FAQ

Do I need to bring my own Laptop / Computer?2020-02-12T15:12:29+00:00

Yes you should bring your own Laptop or Computer. So you can install the software and follow along with the course.

You don’t have to though, you can just follow along the “Presentation Screen” if you are happy with that.

Which Operating System should I use?2020-02-12T15:11:59+00:00

I recommend using a Windows Machine because most of the Virtual Reality Sets are only supported by Windows. There are quite a few issues with Macs, Unity3D & Virtual Reality. You can though use the Simulator of the Software on a Macbook for testing purposes.

You can use a Macbook for Oculus Quest, but the file transfer will be more difficult and slower.

On Windows, Oculus Quest will automatically appear as a drive on your computer. On Mac, you’ll need to install Android File Transfer to successfully transfer files between your Oculus Quest and computer. On Chromebook/Chrome OS, you’ll need to use the Files app to access your Oculus Quest headset. (Source: https://support.oculus.com/855551644803876/)

Do I need to have programming experience?2020-02-12T15:12:42+00:00

No, not for this course. But you should be a confident Windows or Mac User.

Is the course in English?2020-02-12T12:44:01+00:00

Yes this course will be taught in English. I am originally from Austria, but lived in England for 9 years.

Do I need to bring my own VR Set?2020-02-12T15:06:18+00:00

No you don’t have to. You can also use the build in simulator in the Software to test the application. The experience will be much better if you bring your own Virtual Reality Set though.

For the course I will use Oculus Rift. But the software will work as well with HTC Vive, Oculus Quest and should work with Windows Mixed Reality Sets. I cannot guarantee that these headsets all work perfectly. If it doesn’t work I cant spend the course time on fixing your PC or Headset. I will try though at the beginning of the class.

I personally recommend Oculus Rift as I will be using it through out the course.
